Mountain Castles SWCD is pleased to offer summer camp opportunities to students in Botetourt and Craig.
Youth Conservation Camp — July 13-19, 2025 @ Virginia Tech; organized annually by the Virginia Association of Soil & Water Conservation Districts, this week-long camp is for students in grades 9-12. Students stay in the dorms and participate in lots of conservation-related activities and field trips, including hikes and canoeing. Mountain Castles SWCD offers a full scholarship for two students from the district. 2025 applications are due by May 1, 2025.
Camp Woods & Wildlife — June 16-20 @ the Holiday Lake 4-H Education Center; organized by the Virginia Department of Forestry, this field-based residential camp introduces students ages 13-16 to natural resources careers through hands on activities in the Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest. Scholarships are provided to all students, except for a $95 registration fee. Applications are available on the VDOF website.
